Lucy and Maddy analysis of pop magazine Front cover

We anaylsed 'we love pop' magazine 19 sept-16 oct 2012 issue.

The masthead 'we love pop' stands out becuase they used the heart shape instead of the word heart which appeals to its intended audiance. The lead: 'The wanted all talk and trousers' is the 2nd largest text so it stands out and and makes the reader want to read inside. It is a stragically placed banner because it covers the naughty bits hoping the reader will by the magazine to see the image in the magazine without the banner in the way. The picture arouses curiousty and sustains interest making the audiance wonder why are the wanted trouserless? It also is a selling point. Bold font and well-spaced letters are used to make the text easier to read.

Freebies include a sweet, highlighter, notebook and stickers which are all appropiate to the target audiance of 12-16 year old girls. It also advertises the fact that it includes 10 free posters on the bottem of the page, this includes frequancy and acts a selling point for every magazine rather than just this issue. Examples are shown in picture to increase interest. Another banner is located at the top of the magazine. 'Dappy vs Granny' this eye catching and a rather strange content so arouses question why is he fighting a granny? encouraging readers to buy the magazine to find out.

The house style is made up of colours such as pink, orange and tiny amounts of blue these colours are bright and represent hapiness. It is also attracktive the the younger female audiance. There is lots of use of left-side-third, lots of the advertising is placed on the left including the logo. This is for when the magazine is placed vertically and only the left side is shown to the customer. A plug is also used 'joey essex makes a splash' which stands out and draws attention to itself. Well known celebrities such as joey essex and simon cowell increase familiarity.
The white space is kept to a minimum which suggests that there is a lot for this magazine to talk about and even more inside. The mode of adress is suitable and the sell lines such as 'gossip fashion boys UNSENCORED' encourage audiance to buy. Every picture has anchorage to entice the reader in and explain it. The advatorials are the fashion pieces on the front and include prices which promotes the magazine. The cover lines are kept simple, short and snappy and include names of the pop music world.

We need to use some of these techniques to entice our pop loving audiance and should consider, house style colours, suitable mode of adress, banners, anchorage and cover lines.
