New on Scene Vs Indie Queen
It’s that
time of year again, when the spooks come out to play, and things really DO go
bump in the night. At The sound Of we
love Halloween, but somebody we know loves it even more. Widely considered the ‘Queen’
of Indie music, despite only being discovered two years ago, the artist known
as Magpie has wowed the Indie scene with hits such as ‘Downtown’ and, our all
time favourite: ‘Speculations’. Magpie has shocked, terrified, and delighted us
all by going all out on spectacular Halloween costumes – who can forget last year’s
‘Bride Of Frankenstein’...Creepy! But this year it seems she finally has some
competition as the new-on-scene pop star Frankie G has displayed an equal, if not
greater, passion.
Frankie G
was discovered last year when, known simply as ‘Frank’, he made a living
busking on the streets of London. Since then his life has been turned around –
after being discovered by top recording artist, Selena Matrix, he captured young
girl’s hearts around the world with his first single ‘Breaking’. Frankie now has
thousands of fans, which equals to just
as many £££ in his bank account.
Frankie G professed
his love for the spooky holiday in his interview with The Sound Of last month. For those of you who missed that issue,
here’s a taster: “I just love Halloween. I always have. It’s the one day of the
year when you can just let go and get freaky” Nice choice of wording, Frankie. Is
this the year Magpie finally has some decent competition?
Well, she
doesn’t seem to think so: “I’m not just the Queen of Indie, you know – I’ve
been voted Halloween Queen for two years running in SPOOKS magazine; the polls
just don’t lie.” Over confident? Perhaps – The
sound of has never seen Frankie G decked out in his Halloween splendour...
until now! Both young stars have agreed to appear for us in what is The Sound Of’s first Halloween showdown!
Take a look at these pictures, folks, and decide for yourself. As yu can see,
both stars have made a real effort – we’re going to have nightmares tonight! –
But there can be only one winner. Here at The
Sound Of we don’t like to ;pick favourites, and luckily for us we don’t
have to. That leaves it up to you, our loyal readers, to log onto www.thesoundof/halloween.com and vote for your which
star you think has gone all out this Halloween.
